Smoke Park

Yellow Smoke Park is a 359 acre recreation area located one mile east of Denison on Highway 30, then one-half mile north. The park has been developed for picnicking, hiking, biking, camping, swimming, boating, canoeing, sailing, and fishing. Two large open shelters are available on a first come – first served basis or by calling the Conservation Office in the Courthouse at 712-263-2748 for reservations. One large enclosed shelter is available year round by reservation only. There is one large 61 site campground with modern conveniences including comfort station, sanitary dump station, water and electric hookups. Campers are required to self-register at the campgrounds within one hour following arrival. There is no reserving of sites before the unit arrives. A 40 acre lake, with depths up to 36 feet is stocked with bluegill, channel cat, crappie, and large mouth bass. Two handicap accessible piers are available to the public, one on the south side of the lake, the other in the campgrounds.
